Don't Quit
by Jill Wolf

Don't Quit when the tide is lowest,
For it's just about to turn;
Don't quit over doubts and question,
For there's something you may learn;
Don't Quit when the night is darkest,
For it's just a while till dawn;
Don't quit when you've run the farthest,
For the race is almost won,
Don't quit when the hill is steepest,
For your goal is almost nigh;
Don't quit, for you're not a failure until you fail to try.

A lot of times quiting sounds like a really good option. Whether it's giving up on fixing a hard situation or just wanting to quit life in general. Like this poem says Don't quit. Things will get better. The tide of your life is just about to turn. The long discouraging race is almost won. The things you're struggling with are not going to be there forever. Life is worth living and situations are worth trying. Try not to get discouraged and give up. That's not the answer.

I've had many people come to me and tell me that they were going to totally give up trying a while back. They then told me that they are so glad they didn't because since then they have had so many awesome experiences and opportunities that they're glad they didn't miss out on.

If you are currently trying to overcome an eating disorder that is awesome. You can do it. It gets discouraging because you're trying to get better and you probably keep going back and forth and it doesn't seem like you are getting anywhere. Just keep pressing forward and keep the bigger picture in view. Small victories at a time will soon end in a big victory.

Weekly challenge... Try doing something this week for yourself, that you like and you enjoy. Like taking a bubble bath, going for a walk in the woods, taking time to read your favorite story or watch your favorite movie.

Why? Because you are worth it and deserve it.

Please note: This is not a counseling site, but rather, we are an online support group for those struggling with anorexia, bulimia and self injury. If you have any of these disorders or know someone who does, please encourage them to receive medical attention and counseling.
