Beautifully Broken
Beautifully Broken
Torn apart
How long must I sit with a downtrodden heart?
Beautifully Broken
with Beautiful tears
Beautiful Wounds
with Beautiful fears
because of not so beautiful circumstances
that cloud my mind
Things that should have worked out
but I sit here confused
As my tears hit the ground
all the walls surround
and no one is around
I fall to my knees
as the walls topple in
But I won't be harmed
For the Lord is my friend.

It was a liberating feeling to write this poem. It made me think about the term beautiful in a different way. Beautiful.is beauty only in the good things? In the bright sunlight, in a butterfly, in a smile, in a touch, in a symphony, in a piece of art, in a friend or is beauty something more? Is beauty also our fears, our wounds, our pain, our trials, our scars, our tears, our broken hearts? Is beauty in these things because it makes us into the people we are or because it truly is who we are? Is it us to the core, without a mask without a facade, without our accomplishments to hide under? These things are a part of us, we are all going to feel broken at points in our lives and in these things I think there is the most beauty because it reaches the depths of our soul and makes us fight to become stronger, to figure out where we are at with God, our friends, our family and ourselves. It is the true us, the true beauty of who we are.
I know many of you are in the mist of struggles that seem unbearable, that seem like there is no up or down, you are just stuck in a consuming cycle. The pain you may be feeling is so intense you don't know how to explain it, how to reach out or where to go from here. I want you to know that there is a hope for an end to what you are feeling and that there is a beauty in your struggles that God so desperately wants you to share with him or with a friend so you're not in this alone. As much as we would like to be, we are not self-sufficient. Others have been placed in our lives for this moment in time for a specific purpose. There is a Superchick song that is titled; "Beauty from Pain" lets today try to see the Beauty in the Pain.
